Enter as Strangers,
Leave as Friends
Step into the 229‑year‑old Historic Eureka Inn & Event Center and feel time slow down the moment you arrive. Antique furnishings, creaking floors, and warm lamplight create a lived‑in sense of history where conversations flow easily, laughter comes naturally, and guests connect the old‑fashioned way—face‑to‑face.
Located on Main Street in the heart of Jonesborough, just minutes from Johnson City and nearby universities, the inn offers nine uniquely decorated, with modern, private baths, high-speed Wi‑Fi, and individual climate control.
On weekends, guests gather for family‑style breakfasts featuring fresh fruit, juice, and local touches like jams, honey, and coffee. As guests meet others from around the world and share stories of love, adventure, and awe, they create life-long friendships that can only be curated in a unique setting like the Eureka Inn.
Evenings often fill with soft music drifting through the halls, quiet chats by the fire, and friendships forming over coffee on the porch. Outdoors, the floral courtyard, gardens, and creekside gazebo offer peaceful places to unwind—and beautiful settings for intimate weddings and small gatherings.
The Historic Eureka Inn isn’t just a place to stay. It’s a retreat into warmth, camaraderie, and timeless charm—where you slow down, connect, and leave with memories shaped by stories, music, and the simple joy of being together.
You’re INN for a historical escape.

Things To Do Around Town
The Town of Jonesborough offers something for everyone, no matter your interests. From charming local shops and inviting eateries to rich history and unforgettable storytelling, there’s always something new to discover.
The Historic Eureka Inn’s History
The history of the Eureka Inn has included many changes over the last 200 years and the blending of these additions was so perfect that the hotel appears to have been built all at the same time.
Robert Mitchell and his wife Harriett purchased “Lot #19” from the Town of Jonesborough to construct a private residence.
In 1851, William Henry Maxwell purchased the home and had a “jury room” in one of the large bedrooms that can still serve as a meeting room today.
Laura Gosnell purchased the property to be used as a private residence and boarding house.

Peter Miller and his wife Angeline opened the Eureka hotel to offer hospitality to travelers and business people.
J.R. Russell purchased the Inn and added the first bathtub with hot and cold running water.
In the 1950’s, a restaurant, grocery store, and a taxi cab business had taken over the ground floor.

The hotel is restored back to its days of glory and offers the best of past and present.
