The Historic Eureka Inn & Event Center is located on Main Street in the heart of Historic Jonesborough just 10 minutes from Johnson City, Tennessee. Located close to universities including ETSU, Milligan University, Tusculum University and Northeast State Community College. We are also located within 30 minutes of the Bristol Motor Speedway.

Each of the Eureka’s 9 uniquely decorated bedrooms create a captivating blend of past and present. They offer spacious rooms with private baths, free Wi-Fi, and individually controlled heat and air. The inn also features acoustic-soundproofing in its walls creating quiet, romantic spaces.

On Saturdays and Sundays, the Inn provides delicious breakfasts served family style in the large dining room, allowing guests to hear stories from other travelers. With fruit, juice, and locally-acquired touches like jams, honey and coffee, you’ll be fueled up and ready to explore all Jonesborough and the Tri Cities has to offer.

Ease into Main Street life on its front porch, take a stroll through the floral courtyard and gardens or enjoy the shade offered by the creekside gazebo. The courtyard and gardens are the ideal outdoor venue for intimate and micro weddings, family reunions or other social events.

Meet Your Hosts

The Ladies of the Eureka Inn have been welcoming guests since 2023. Under new ownership, the Historic Eureka Inn and Event Center has a feeling of formality yet the relaxation of home. Complete with 2 dogs and onsite management, the Inn is perfect for travelers, locals enjoying a romantic weekend, weddings, reunions, car clubs, concert or play attendees, and much more. Gathering around the breakfast table or rocking in the chairs on the front porch provides a unique getaway within steps of all the action on Main Street. Our motto is Enter as Strangers, Leave as Friends.

Our beloved and friendly dogs, Murphy & Liberty, both live on property so no additional pets are allowed. The dogs are available for belly rubs in the parlor and courtyard as they are not allowed in the guest rooms.

We offer historically-decorated rooms that are warm and cozy, and include modern amenities such as in-room digital thermostats, refrigerators, hairdryers and Keurig© coffee makers.

All rooms have full-bathrooms with a combined bathtub and shower; the Russell Room has a standup shower.

The Historic Eureka Inn’s History

The history of the Eureka Inn has included many changes over the last 200 years and the blending of these additions was so perfect that the hotel appears to have been built all at the same time.

1797
1797

Robert Mitchell and his wife Harriett purchased “Lot #19” from the Town of Jonesborough to construct a private residence.

1851
1851

In 1851, William Henry Maxwell purchased the home and had a “jury room” in one of the large bedrooms that can still serve as a meeting room today.

1869
1869

Laura Gosnell purchased the property to be used as a private residence and boarding house.

1900
1900

Peter Miller and his wife Harriett opened the Eureka hotel to offer hospitality to travelers and business people.

1910
1910

J.R. Russell purchased the Inn and added the first bathtub with hot and cold running water.

1950's
1950's

In the 1950’s, a restaurant, grocery store, and a taxi cab business had taken over the ground floor.

1997
1997

The hotel is restored back to its days of glory and offers the best of past and present.
